Incarnation-al. Yes, it is definitely a word, right here on my blog, hyphen and all! Thank you, Bruce, for your kind words and insight. I've always thought the greatest miracle of all wasn't Jesus changing water into wine, or raising Lazarus from the dead; rather, it was Him, God the Creator, becoming man. God The Word who called all things into being, the uncontainable God, being contained in the form of man. That is why when Jesus compares himself to light, for example, "I am the light of the World", he is not speaking symbolically, because he is the creator of light. Only God can speak literally like that. For us to deny His authority to do so is to usurp his rights. When the Great I Am says, "This is", it is!

Rob,
My hunger for the Body and Blood of our risen Jesus became desperate in late 2005 and early 2006. I was also received into the one, holy catholic and apostolic church in Easter week of 2006. Now almost 6 years later, I am grateful for all the graces of the the Catholic faith, while at the same time being grateful for all that I received from the Lord in other expressions of the Christian faith prior to becoming Catholic. God's grace is indeed pervasive and generous and yet I have come to believe that the fullness and completeness of the Christian religion subsists in the Catholic faith. I love that the Catholic faith is incarnation-al (if it isn't a word, let's make it up). As I read your delicious witness to your reception of the faith, my spirit resonated with your story. The "Panis Angelicus" came to mind. Jesus is the Bread from Heaven and He continues to be present in Spirit, In Word and in Sacrament. We are all invited to live this mystery of faith so beautifully expressed in this translation:
"Bread of Angels,
made the bread of men;
The Bread of heaven
puts an end to all symbols:
A thing wonderful!
The Lord becomes our food:
poor, a servant, and humble.
We beseech Thee,
Godhead One in Three
That Thou wilt visit us,
as we worship Thee,
lead us through Thy ways,
We who wish to reach the light
in which Thou dwellest.
Amen."
Thank you for your witness, Rob! You are companion (with bread). God bless you in every way. Bruce

I read this years ago & just read it again; It brings me back to that year & I "rejoice in our sufferings" as without them we wouldn't have run "home."

May we continue to welcome our sufferings in such a light.
